Effective date: August 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MenuClaw, Inc. ("MenuClaw", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects information when you visit our website, request API access, use our APIs, datasets and other products, or otherwise interact with us. It also describes the choices and rights you have in relation to that information.
01Information We Collect
The data we process falls into three categories
- Information you provide. When you request API access, contact sales, subscribe to updates or communicate with us, you may provide your name, business email address, company name and details about your intended use case.
- Menu and restaurant data we process on your behalf. When customers use our APIs, we ingest, structure and enrich restaurant menu data — including dishes, prices, ingredients, photos and restaurant metadata — much of it from publicly available sources. This data powers the MenuClaw knowledge graph and derived intelligence products.
- Information collected automatically. When you visit menuclaw.com, we receive standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URLs and timestamps. We use cookies and local storage for theme preference, language preference and analytics, as described in Section 07.
02How We Use Information
We use information to operate and improve the service
- Provide, operate, secure and improve our website, APIs and datasets.
- Respond to inquiries, process API access requests and deliver support.
- Build, maintain and improve the knowledge graph and derived intelligence.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access and other security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Send service, product and research communications where permitted; you can opt out at any time.
03Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information
- Service providers. Trusted vendors that help us operate the service — such as hosting, analytics and support — are bound by data processing agreements.
- Legal and safety reasons. When required by law, court order or government request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of MenuClaw, our users or the public.
- Corporate transactions. In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets; we will continue to protect your information.
- Aggregated, de-identified data. We may share aggregate or de-identified insights that cannot reasonably identify an individual.
04Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed
- Account and contact information is retained for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period for legal and audit purposes.
- API request logs are retained for a limited period for security, debugging and rate-limit enforcement.
- De-identified, aggregated knowledge graph data is retained to operate the service and may persist after individual records are removed.
- You can request deletion at any time (see Section 06), subject to legal retention obligations.
05Security
Security is built into the service
We use encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), enforce least-privilege access controls with multi-factor authentication, and follow SOC 2-aligned operational practices. See our Security page for details. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
06Your Rights & Choices
Your rights and how to exercise them
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing.
- Marketing: you can opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Cookie controls: you can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
- To exercise any right, email privacy@menuclaw.com. We respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
07Cookies & Analytics
Cookies, local storage and analytics
- Essential: theme preference and language preference are stored locally on your device; no cross-site tracking.
- Analytics: we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage — pages, referrers and rough geography — so we can improve the site.
- We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
08International Transfers
International data transfers
We operate internationally and may process information in jurisdictions outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, to protect transferred personal information.
09Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children
Our products are intended for business and developer use and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
